This short course explores the importance of exercise to minimise and mitigate the risks associated with chronic lifestyle related illness that are robbing South Africans of their quality of life, and negatively impacting the productivity of companies. Our modern sedentary lifestyles coupled with bad nutrition choices are one of the leading causes of deaths annually, accounting for the loss of over 11 million lives globally. Furthermore, the loss of income, the emotional trauma of losing loved ones and the loss of quality of life and normal functioning is a reality for millions more.

The good news is, that simply by doing a few minutes of moderate intensity exercise regularly throughout the day, we can turn this picture around. This course will equip you with an understanding of the mental and physiological benefits of exercise and the skills to implement wellness programmes that get employees moving. It will furthermore highlight some important health and safety considerations as well as warning signs to be aware of when implementing exercise programmes in your workspace.

In addition to acquiring a basic knowledge of exercise, you will learn some valuable goal setting tips and healthy habit formation strategies to help you and your employees make exercise a natural part of your daily life. At the end of some of the lessons, you will be required to complete a short quiz to test what you have learnt and your ability to apply your knowledge to practical scenarios.
